Placing an Ad in Your Novi AMS Content Using the AdPlugg Snippet

This recipe shows you how to place an ad into the content of a Novi AMS site using AdPlugg. This recipe just adds a single ad but you can use the techniques shown to add any number of ads by combining it with other recipes, etc. The recipe uses the AdPlugg Snippet, which will work on any site, but the instructions in this recipe are specific to a Novi AMS site.

Create An Ad

First, we need to create an AdPlugg Ad.

  1. From within your AdPlugg account, create an Ad and upload an ad image (see the Ad Help Page).

Add the AdPlugg JavaScript SDK to Your Novi AMS Site

Next, we are going to add the AdPlugg JavaScript SDK to your Novi AMS Site. This allows you to place and run AdPlugg ads on your site.

  1. Log in to the Novi AMS admin.
  2. Click the gear icon in the top right and then choose Association Settings.
  3. From the left navigation menu, select the "Analytics/Scripts" tab.
  4. From within your account at adplugg.com, click "Download" and then "Snippet".
  5. Click the "Get The Snippet" button (at the bottom).
  6. Copy the AdPlugg SDK and paste it into the "Head tag script or markup" field (in the "Scripts" section).
  7. Save your changes.

Add an AdPlugg Ad Tag

Now, we are going to add an AdPlugg Ad Tag to your Novi AMS content. Thanks to the easily customizable nature of Novi, this is easy to do.

  1. Log into the Novi AMS admin.
  2. Navigate to the article or page that you want to place an ad on from the frontend.
  3. If you see a Page Editor switch at the top of the page, ensure that it is toggled to "ACTIVE".
  4. Click on the main article/page content (or any other editable region) where you want to place the ad. This will bring up the Novi AMS Frontend Content Editor.
  5. From the menu at the top of the Content Editor, go to Tools > Source code (or click the source code icon: < >). This will allow you to make changes to the region's source code.
  6. From your AdPlugg dashboard, go to Download and then Snippet. Click the "Get the Snippet" button (at the bottom) and then copy the Ad Tag to your clipboard.
  7. Paste the Ad Tag code that you copied above in to the Source Code box in Novi AMS.
  8. Press the Save button to save the changes to the source code.
  9. Press the Save button to save the changes to the page or article.

Adding More Ads!

You can use the technique described above to insert ads into any number of places across your Novi AMS site.

Use Ad Zones to get more control so that you can serve different (or the same) ads into these regions.

Want to serve different ads to different articles and pages? Check out AdPlugg's Page Targeting feature (see Targeting).
